Thanks everybody for a great event! I heard lots of positive comments regarding the event as a whole. Kudos!
Thanks again Jadrice for the codrive, you've got one heck of a setup and I hope I was able to help you dial it in. Saturday was a little rough for me trying to get used to the car but by the end of Sunday, I think we had it nailed. |

Well, got the new clutch installed, did the alignment. It looks like I was only running -1.0 degree of camber on the passenger side rear, which would explain the more than ideal rotation Shawn mentioned to me. It only seem to happen when making left turns, as the driver side was still within where I had it before. That was corrected (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Jeff, I was going over the traqmate data, and it was very interesting what I found. On day one, I was ahead of you by 7 tenths at the very start. By the time I got to the first right hander, I was ahead by 8 tenths. Judging that, I was doing a much better job launching the car. Something to think about in the future, launches are very very important. The rest of the segments, I was only slightly ahead, approx 1 to 2 tenths, but those 1 to 2 tenths adds up for each segment. Now for the good news, There was only one turn that you beat me on, and you gained a significant amount of time, half of a second, it was the second right hander at the bottom of the hill, heading towards the middle slalom. You kept the turn radius nice and tight, while I was carrying a little more speed, but increased the radius of the turn by 20 feet. Looking at the data, you just crept up on me, very nice. The data shows, and continued to show that a tighter line, or getting closer to the inside cones in any sweeper, is the fastest way. When I combined where I lost time to you, and my other fastest run, if I ran similar lines, my times on saturday would have been in the mid 54s instead of the low 55s, which means that I would be running right there with the DSP guys. Lesson learned (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I love Traqmate! |

Thats good info Jadrice, thanks for posting.
The alignment issue would explain why the car would snap oversteer on me exiting the big sweeper on Saturday. The traqmate stuff is interesting too. I knew you would have me at the start because I was purposely not launching the car very hard (not that I'm great at it anyway), I didn't want to run the risk of breaking the car two weeks before nationals. While I knew I would be giving up some time there, I didn't think it would be that much. I think the .1-.2 is the difference between driving conservative and driving on the controlled edge. I will be making a concious effort to drive a little less conservatively in the next few events and see what difference that makes. Once we got the car dialed in Sunday, I was much more comfortable with it (not so much on Saturday), so much so that I know I didn't drive at my limit. Tight is definitely the way to go, find the tightest line and continue to push the car on the same line til it won't hold anymore. Thats where you want to be. During the shootout and having nothing to lose, I drove more to my style and dropped my time nearly 8/10ths (55.7). I think with another run I could have dropped to the low 55s possibly even a 54.9, who knows. Anytime you need a codriver, just let me know. I'd be more than happy to help out. Just wanted to let all you class winners know that the fleece jackets are projected to arrive at my house mid next week. I hope to have them all mailed out by Friday. You local guys will be able to pick them up at the Sept. TSCC event.
