There were no wrecked cars or anything.
A Subaru puked some coolant on course which required a kitty litter cleanup. Also there may have been some issues with radio batteries, debris blowing through the timer boxes, and/or angles of sunlight causing timer errors... all meaning more re-runs than usual. And apparently some VMP cleanup staff appeared out of nowhere to collect trash way too close to the hot course. All the above situations created delays... but none sound particularly serious, it's just that they were all close together after the first 5 hours of the event had been going perfectly. Or so they tell me, Jon |

Anybody got video of the course... in both directions? Jon I would also like to see some video of the course in both directions, so I can have a good look at what worked and didn't for the next time I try my hand at course design. Also, if you have any feedback about the course and didn't talk to me yesterday (I was the Asian guy in the black Prelude), please PM me so I know what I can improve on. |

Jon, you left out that Campers were still parked on the lot in the morning. I believe James had to wake folks up and ask them to clear the area so the course could be setup.
I really liked the course, it was overall faster than normal (not peak speed but avg. speed as you spent a lot of time in the upper end of 2nd) The offsets/esses were a good change you had to get a pattern through one set and then change it for the middle and end set, kind of a fast, variable slalom. I took some vids in both directions but my laptop crapped out (no firewire on the PC) I'll see if I can get something to work. Everyone got 4+4 runs so I think it was a success (including the 12+ reruns before switching directions in heat 2). On thing to note, a schedule is there for guidance and doesn't mean you're on the clock until a given time.... When things start late, the schedule adjusts accordingly. Just thought that needed to be said. Now to see how bad Nick beat me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Brian |

"Good morning drag racers, could you please move your campers? We need to put cones here, because this is our lot not yours, as of 8:00 this morning. Also that coffee smells delicious, can I have a cup? Thanks!" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Absolutely re schedule. We consider it "time certain until announced otherwise" and - as you saw - we do everything we can to get everyone all their runs, even if it means running later than said posted schedule. If we start 15 minutes late, everything on the sched goes 15 minutes late from there, and soforth. There are buffers built into that schedule all over the place for that exact reason. It's not an exact science but somehow we always make it work. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yesnod.gif) Can't wait to see more videos, Jon |

There was no hell breaking loose just the things Jon mentioned. Most complaining was about the course myself included but it was one of those that drove better than it walked. (Yea I know they all do ).Both finish lines were tight and awkward but did better as starts. The slalom was very tight for me, not alot of fun to do at 10 or 15mph and I hate going in circles. But over all a great day I had a blast. 8 to 10 runs on a 60 + second course, a lot of people are missing it!
Results? Later Gil |

That's the correct link. They were up briefly, then I spotted some errors. They should be back up soon.
BTW- starting next time they will be posted online FROM THE SITE. People can get home and login and see how they did that day. Can't wait! Jon |

I sit down this morning looking for resuts and this is what I see over at VaRacers.com
QUOTE(getfast;6726) Results will no longer be published for events that have less than 50 cars competing. So tell your friends! Help us keep this program alive! Thanks, Jon So fellow VaRacers.com driver Mike has taken things into his own hands and started a thread to see if we can put some sort of list of times together. It can be found here. Stringer, as I just said over there, I was kidding when I posted that. It was like 3am and I was so tired of trying to finish posting the results that I thought it was funny. Of course we can't not publish results, it was a championship event no matter how many people showed up.
So I'll finish and post them just as soon as I'm done chasing you around the internets (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Jon |

Again my apologies for taking so long. It won't happen again. Just so you guys know, it definitely wasn't intentional. I'm just really busy this time of year... Jon (Now on to posting current '08 championship points... after dinner...) |

I'm still at dinner! You guys know how much I like food, right? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
Working on it... but it's the busy season (about to leave for my third trip to Summit Point inside of a week... then home for 2 days, then VIR for 3 days, then Langley...) I should have time between Sep 1 and Sep 4 to get 'em finished and posted. Jon |
