I'm really going to try to make this one but with a baby due the next week I'll be on alert so I'll have to wait until closer to the day to know for sure. The plus side is my tires would already be warm for a quick jaunt to the hospital, downside is I'd hate to ruin the seats (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
I can't believe we've gone from 'there's not enough events around' to not getting enough entries to have spare workers. What gives folks? Do we need to add a hybrid series? |

I can't believe we've gone from 'there's not enough events around' to not getting enough entries to keep from cancelling the last few autocrosses of the 2008 season. Fixed that for ya Brian... and I can't believe it either (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) Jon |

NASA Mid-Atlantic Autocross is proud to announce a new program called "FIRST TIMER FREEBIE RUNS" starting with the August 31 event at Langley Speedway in Hampton VA.
Anyone at least 18 years of age with a valid drivers license and a car that will pass tech can literally get some runs in for 100% free before the regular competition heats. NASA membership is not required and loaner helmets are available. Details about FIRST TIMER FREEBIE RUNS at Langley on August 31 are here: http://www.nasaproracing.com/nasa_event/show/?event_id=757 Please note that pre-registration is required for FIRST TIMER FREEBIE RUNS and that spaces are limited. So if you know anyone who has been thinking about trying autocross, this is a perfect opportunity. Please help us spread the word! Thanks in advance, Jon |

And that's a good thing for unashamed V8 owners like me who's car makes over 1/3 of a tank disappear in a 20 minute session at VIR. Like I tell the hippes at work, "I would not have bought a V8 if I was worried about buying gasoline. I like being able to go fast and it takes dead dinosaurs to do it." Thanks, Dinosaurs! |

If I can scrape together enough money, I'll be there. I love autocrossing at Langley, its a really unique venue for it, and I'm kinda sad to see that it wont be continueing due to lack of participation.

Pre-reg for the First Timer Freebie runs is closed with 0 of 20 spots remaining.
Pre-reg for normal entries is closed with 16 of 60 spots remaining. The updated entry list so far is at http://www.get-fast.net/nasacross/083108reg.htm The tentative schedule is: 9:00am gates open 10:00am registration & tech open 10:45am course walk 11:15am drivers meeting 12:00pm First Timer Freebie Runs 12:45pm Heat 1 (heat 2 drivers work) est 3:00pm Heat 2 (heat 1 drivers work) est 5:00pm cleanup 6:00pm gates close Everyone on site will need to sign the waiver and get a wristband immediately (at the table by the building). Only drivers and officials are allowed over the wall, i.e. inside the track itself. Passengers are not allowed unless they are NASA-X instructors. Spectating is free and encouraged. Thanks again everyone & see ya tomorrow! Off to get the cones, inventory the gear, print stuff, test the radios, etc, Jon |

Fun day, and it never did rain!
About 60 drivers got 8+ runs each on a ~40sec clockwise course. Plus about a dozen novices took advantage of our "First Timer Freebie Runs" program. Results will be posted before I sleep tonight (seriously this time, hahaha) at: http://www.get-fast.net/nasacross/083108res.htm Thanks again to everyone who came out & made it happen! Jon PS- Langley Nov 2 is no longer a tentative event, it's definitely a go. Pre-reg opens 9/2 @ http://www.nasaproracing.com/nasa_event/show/?event_id=761 |

I'd like to add that for the second event, the place was left basically spotless! Thanks to everyone. Also, there was some great course working, station 5 oin the second heat rocked as did everyone! I "thought" I laid out a fairly open and easy course, but Lord there were some serious downed cones. Thanks to all the driver, workers (which should be one in the same) and spectators for making this a great event and hopefully letting Langley stay on the NASA schedule.

Provisional (unofficial for 48hrs) results have been posted at the link above, by the way... Time for bed, Jon |

From what I watched in station 3 all day...very good course. Nice and open with some great technical spots in it. Great job Dale. |

Dale, Jon - had good time yesterday!
my friend from work also enjoyed the freebie runs and the ride along too. He'll be back for sure. Shannon got video of the freebie runs, alot of 1st heat, and some 2nd heat drivers. I'll have this up soon. Glad to see that the November event is on. I'll be there for sure. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) |
